Following Donald Trump’s recent suspension from Twitter, many people are now calling for him to be removed from appearing in Home Alone: Lost in New York.
Trump made a cameo appearance in the 1992 sequel where he tells Kevin McCallister (aka Macaulay Culkin) how to get to the hotel lobby.
Now fans want him to be removed from the iconic scene, with some suggesting that Christopher Plummer should be added to replace the 74-year-old.
Christopher Plummer was the actor that appeared as J Paul Getty in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World after Kevin Spacey’s scenes were cut following allegations of sexual assault.
One person wrote: “Can we have that scene in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York digitally edited with modern technology to replace @realDonaldTrump with Christopher Plummer?”
Trump’s Twitter account was permanently suspended by Twitter because of ‘the risk of further incitement of violence’, this followed a 12-hour ban after the events in Washington DC on Wednesday.
The official Twitter Safety account wrote: “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.
“In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action.
“Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.
“However, we made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules and cannot use Twitter to incite violence. We will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement.”
