If you’re bored of your job and love playing on your Playstation – we’ve got a job right up your street.
Playstation is on the hunt for people to play their video games as a full-time job, however before you get too excited, you do need a few special skills which we’ll explain in more detail.
The vacancies, which are based in Liverpool, are for ‘localisation testers’ which means you’ll be tasked with making sure the audio and text in video games are correct. So, yeah, practically playing – right?
You will need to have a good level of knowledge for the required language (grammar, spelling, and punctuation), and good attention to detail to provide corrections when errors occur.
You’d also need to be fluent in either Portuguese, Russian or Arabic to be a decent candidate for the role – which we know is a big ask.
The job advertisement explains that you will occasionally translate text for a video game or marketing.
Still interested? You can apply for the job on Indeed, with the description asking potential employees: “Do you have a passion for languages and games? Do you enjoy finding linguistic mistakes in video games? Would you like to be part of an international team whose work has impact on players around the world? Then we would love to hear from you!”
The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, working 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. The salary for the role is yet to be determined.
Skills and experience you need for the job include:
- Fluency in English and one or more languages
- Passionate games player
- Good knowledge of computer games across multiple platforms
- Working knowledge of MS Office package
- Basic understanding of the development cycle and constraint
