For anyone who’s missing Love Island this year – a brand new show called Love in Isolation could be the solution.
Produced by EZ Films for the RTE Player, ‘Love in Isolation’ attempts to match daters online to find out if opposites do attract, or if it really is a survival of the fittest.
Recorded in their homes via video chat, the daters have jumped at the chance to dress up, have a drink and even light a candle or two with a potential new flame.
There is a twist to the show however, which will see each date being set a challenge. So yes, we envision the most Irish of awkward encounters are on the horizon.
A statement from RTÉ reads: “Recorded in their homes via video chat, our daters have been frustrated by lockdown and can’t wait to get socialising again, so they have jumped at the chance to dress up, have a drink and even light a candle or two.
“As each date is set a challenge, we’ll discover some quirky talents and daters’ secret passions that just might spark a match!”
Among the singletons taking part is Savannah Nolan, from Dublin, who told the broadcaster: “I felt quarantine was a great time to try new things and I thought, ‘Why not go on an online dating show too?’ Emmet [her match] was all the things I’d asked for, down to his green eyes!
“My friends would consider me to be loud and outrageous, but Emmet almost made me look boring. We were both such high energy and it almost became a competition of who was the most fun and outrageous.”
Viewers will be able to watch all episodes of Love in Isolation on the RTÉ Player on Tuesday 9 June.
